Venture Magazine Concept
A professional publication designed to cater for business travel.
Here’s how this magazine came to life!
Overview
This was a class project where we were tasked with creating a travel magazine titled Venture. We had complete freedom in deciding how we were going to tackle the project, and we had the opportunity to choose what the look and feel was of the brand. I wanted to take this chance to get out of my comfort zone, so I went for a more professional kind of vibe. I kind of associated this with sans serif fonts and a blue color.
Although this was more of a creative exercise for me than a solution to a problem, I still think that the final product turned out great! I believe that the fonts pair well with each other, and the magazine is easy to read through overall. The imagery doesn’t distract from the main content either.
What I Learned
This was one of my first projects done on InDesign, so I was able to learn about paragraph styles, margins, and more! This allowed me to organize text quickly and effectively on a product that features a lot of text.
I learned ways I can make a professional look look aesthetic despite it’s simplicity. I accomplished this by making the imagery play with the text a bit as well as using simple shapes and patterns to help make the design look pleasing to look at.
I was able to learn about editorial design as a whole. Through the research I’ve done on this project, I looked into the process of how editorial designers approach their work. I was able to ask myself questions such as: How can I make this editorial easy to read for the viewer? How does text tend to be layed out on the page?
